No services will be held for former Sheridan resident Ruby M. Beard Tuggle of Sisters.
Mrs. Tuggle died of natural causes April 18, 2002. She was 89.
Born April 9, 1913, in Madill, Okla., she was the daughter of Lyman and Buda Beard.
She and Paul Tuggle were married May 10, 1930. Her husband owned and operated Tuggle Chevrolet in Sheridan from 1956 to 1974.
Mrs. Tuggle received her bachelor's degree in special education from Western Oregon University and her master's degree in special education from the University of Oregon. She taught in the McMinnville School District.
Since she was hearing impaired all of her adult life, she formed an organization, Education for All by Reading Speech. She was instrumental in getting devices for the hearing impaired installed in public facilities.
Mrs. Tuggle was a member and past president of the McMinnville Soroptimist Club.
She and her husband retired and moved to Sisters in 1981.
She enjoyed hiking, camping, traveling, family, writing and poetry. She also enjoyed swimming and earned her senior life-saving certificate.
Survivors include her husband of Sisters; a son, Pete Tuggle of Woodburn; a daughter, Carol Stevens of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Elinor Miller of Quincy, Ill.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
