Marie Bodevin Weidert was married to Bernard Weidert. She and her husband emigrated to the US with their 12 children in 1847. They sailed from Le Havre, France on the S.S. Monterey, landing in the port of New York in August 1847. With anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant sentiment on the East Coast at the time, the family settled in remote Elk County, Pennsylvania with other emigrants from Germany.
