Aaron was a son of Jonathan Samuel Yoder and Barbara E. Frey. He came with his family to Clackamas Co., OR from Dade, Co, MO, in 1889. From 1907 to his retirement, he worked in the Yoder sawmill that his father had built soon after their arrival from Missouri. He married Edna C. Conrad on August 21 1907, and they had three sons.
