Memorial services for Dorothy M. Schaneman, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ora Dailey officiating. Dorothy died Jan. 7, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff, Neb., and cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be interred in the Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, Calif., at a later date. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Wheatland, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Reffalt) Farnham. She grew up and attended grade school in Lingle and later attended high school in Torrington.

She married Floyd Johnston on Aug. 9, 1941, outside of Ft. Lewis, Wash. They moved around with the Army and later the Army Air Born. They were three years in France, Japan for a year-and-a-half, and many places in the United States. They lived in Napa for 20 years. Floyd died in 1988 and she moved back to Torrington in 1994. She married Martin Schaneman Jr. on Feb. 14, 1995, and he died in 2007.

Both sets of her grandparents came to Goshen County to homestead south of Ft. Laramie in the Harmony Heights area. The Reffalts in 1914.

Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidery, bowling and was considered one of the best mother-in-laws.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sandra Silveira and her husband David of Napa; a step-son Mike Schaneman of Lake Dallas, Texas; a step-daughter Sandy Schaneman of Torrance, Calif.; a grandson Andy Schaneman of Morrill, Neb.; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one sister, Lucille Mason; and a granddaughter Aimee Mae Silveira.
