SOUTH BEND - Betty J. Byers, 91, passed away at 1:05 pm Tuesday, January 3, 2012, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Betty was born on December 2, 1920, in Stryker, Ohio, to Wyatt and Virginia (Radabaugh) Ehrmin. She was employed by the American Red Cross, Memorial Hospital and the United Religious Community.
Betty was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of South Bend and the School Men's Wives Club.
On June 26, 1943, in Seattle, WA, she married John E. Byers Sr. He died on March 21, 1993.
Surviving are 4 sons, John E. (Judy) Byers Jr. of Granger, Thomas E. (Barbara) Byers, Philip E. (Judith) Byers and James E. (Paula) Byers, all of South Bend; 7 grandchildren, Bryan (Courtney) Byers, Brad (Jessica) Byers, Jason Byers, Maren (Jeff) Patterson, Christopher Byers, Matthew Byers and Andrew Byers; 3 great-grandchildren, Chase, Katie and Addison; and a sister, Anna Mae (Richard) Bollinger of Centennial, CO.
Private services will be held with burial at Riverview Cemetery. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, is handling services.
