The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Mary Jane Burchett, wife of Icel Burchett, died at the family home one-half mile south of town last Thursday. She was in her 76th year and was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
She professed faith in Christ 50 years ago, united with the Presbyterian church and lived a true, consecrated Christian life,
until the end. She bad been in declining health for a number of
years, but bore her suffering with patience and without a murmur.
Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. M.O. Andrews, Coats, Kans., Mr. J.C. Burchett, Lula, Ky., Mrs. S.J. Long, Rowena, Ky., and Mrs. O.E. Cooper, Monticello, Ky. All of her children were at the bedside when the end came except Mrs. Andrews, who could not leave her home on account of sickness in her family.
Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. E. Perkins, of Mill Spring, Ky. and H. B. Popplewell, of this city, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Jamestown cemetery to await the resurrection of the just.
The aged husband, children and grand children have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
