Husband of Helen M. Peterson
Wayne K. Sheffield passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 in Kaysville, Ut.
He was born November 22, 1909 in Kaysville, Utah, the son of Heber James and Nannie Lyle Kinnett Sheffield. He married Helen M. Peterson on June 28, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had been a resident of Kaysville all his life. He was always an avid sports fan and was active in football and basketball at Davis High; he graduated from there and attended Utah Agricultural College (Now USU). He worked as Deputy County Treasurer under Bryant S. Jacobs until he took the civil service test and qualified to be Postmaster in Kaysville where he served for 39 years before retiring December 31, 1976. He was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and held many church positions, one of which was teaching church classes for approximately 50 years.
He was a charter member of the Kaysville Rotary Club.
Wayne and Helen are parents of four children: a son, who died at child birth and the survivors, Kay L. Sheffield of Houston, TX; Anne H. Sheffield of Park Ridge, IL; and Paul W. Sheffield of Salt Lake City. Wayne and Helen are the grandparents of seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Kaysville 1st Ward Tabernacle, 198 West Center. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Thursday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
