"She was born Wanell McClellan on September 13, 1933 in Coleman County to Luther McClellan and Tulia Skelton McClellan. Wanell grew up in Coleman County and graduated from Mozelle High School. She married Jerry Glenn Thomas on June 18, 1955 in Coleman. Wanell worked for Dr. Weaver as his assistant. She then went on to work in the laboratory at Overall- Morris Hospital. Wanell also worked as the secretary for Martin Brick Company and then worked for the Coleman County Water District. After her retirement, she worked part time at Stevens Funeral Home as a greeter and hostess. Wanell was always active working in her yard. She was an avid walker and would walk all over the city of Coleman for her exercise. She enjoyed her daily coffee and visiting sessions at the Coleman Senior Center as well as visiting with the families at Stevens Funeral Home. She was a lifelong resident of Coleman County and took pride in knowing just about everyone. If you needed to know anything about Coleman County, you could call Wanell and she would have the answer for you. Wanell was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her sons and their families. Wanell could prepare the tastiest pies and treats for any occasion. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coleman and the Red Hat Society. Wanell will be missed by all who knew her, but we rejoice knowing that she is at peace.

"Wanell is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Tulia McClellan; her husband, Jerry Glenn Thomas; and her siblings, Marie McClellan Anderson, and Floyd McClellan.

"She is survived by her sons, Jerry Thomas and wife Annie of Midland, Gary Thomas and wife Donna of McKinney, Mike Thomas and wife Cyndi of Forney; her grandchildren, Garrett Thomas, Jarrad Thomas, Luke Thomas, Brittany Oakley, Kyndra Britt; numerous great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.

"Pallbearers will be Ricky White, Garrett Thomas, Brittany Oakley, Kyndra Britt, Juliana Thomas, Jarrad Thomas, and Luke Thomas.

"Memorials are suggested in memory of Wanell to the donor’s charity of choice."
