Funeral services for Thomas W. Kemp, age 78, of Idalou, Texas will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with Russell Harris, minister of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. He was born on March 3, 1925 in Sylvester and died at 8:40 a.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He attended Texas Tech University.
He married Lois Marie Tyler on Sept. 11 1948, in Lubbock. They lived in Norwalk, Calif. and came to Plainview in 1959. He owned and operated Bulldog "66" Gas Station and was a custom farmer.
He moved to Idalou in 1973 and retired in 1996, due to his health. He was a 32nd degree mason. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Idalou; two sons, Jimmy Kemp of Lockney, and Larry Kemp of Arlington; two sisters, Gloria Shami of Hurst and Ina Shriever of Irving; and eight grandchildren.
