Ephraim Baker was born on March 9, 1854, in Wisconsin. He married FRANCIS SAGE and they had three children: NELLIE BAKER who married WALTER LARSON, ETTA BAKER who never married; and a son, HOLLISTER BAKER who married Rowena Severt and had children as follows: Francis, William, and Hollister, Jr. Hollister Baker was born in Wisconsin in about 1884. He died at his home in St. Paul on January 3, 1922, of pneumonia. The body arrived from St. Paul on No. 9 and services were conducted at the Methodist church before being interred in the Verndale Green Lawn Cemetery, Lot 46, Block 9.
"Holly" Baker as he was more familiarly known was quite well acquainted in this community having resided near here on a farm for several years before leaving for St. Paul. It was very sad that his life was snuffed out at his young age of 38 years, 11 months, and 19 days. He was a fine, hard working young fellow.
The deceased left a devoted wife and two children to mourn his loss which made his passing doubly sad. His many friends in this neighborhood joined with his grief stricken father and other relatives in their bereavement.
Ephraim was a farmer and a good wagon-maker. He was of a slow and easy nature. He and his family at one time lived on the farm that Maurice Baker, Sr. later purchased at Central and spent his married life farming. He farmed in Wing River Township for nearly 40 years before leaving for St. Paul in about 1921 to live with his daughter, Etta.
He had been confined to bed since May in a St. Paul Hospital with the stroke of paralysis which, together with his, advanced age, and other complications, brought on his death on December 1, 1935, at the age of 81 years, eight months, and 22 days.

Funeral services were conducted in the Verndale Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Olney officiating. He was survived by his daughters - Nellie of Staples, MN, and Etta of St. Paul. His wife preceded him in death. He is buried at the Verndale Green Lawn Cemtery, Lot 46, Block 7.
