Anthony S. Forte Sr., 73, a native of Italy who volunteered at his church, died yesterday at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.

Born in Castelpetroso, Italy, he moved to the Little Italy section of Manhattan in 1951. He settled in Sunnyside in 1965.

He started Anthony Forte Contracting Corp. in 1965 and retired in 2000.

Mr. Forte was a member of the Arrochar Friendship Club; the Home Improvement Contractors of Staten Island, and a former member of the Victory Sportsman Club.

He was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and an usher at St. Nicholas Chapel.

He enjoyed hunting, traveling, helping his sons with various projects, and tending his vegetable garden with his wife of fifty-one years, Angelina.

In addition to his wife, Angelina, surviving are four sons, Frank, Tommy, Anthony, and John, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Friday from the Matthew Funeral Home, Willowbrook, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Chapel.
Entombment will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
