BREEDING, JAMES ALEXANDER

James Alexander Breeding, lawyer, jurist and former member of the Legislature, was born in Adair County, Kentucky, and was educated in the public schools of Louisville, Kentucky, and in the Law Department of the University of Kentucky. He was admitted to the bar at Louisville in November of 1875, and came to Texas in 1877 and to Houston in 1880. Since then he has lived here continuously and has built up a large and lucrative practice in the law. A life-long democrat, Mr. Breeding was twice elected a member of the Texas Legislature and served two terms. Upon a number of occasions he has been named, and served, as a special Judge of the District Courts in Texas, being selected both by the bar and by appointment of the Governor.
December 16, 1868, married Miss Hattie R. Mullen at Louisville.

James Alexander Breeding was born to Enoch Breeding and Melvina Miller. He was an attorney and served as a judge in Houston. He married Hattie Mullen on December 16, 1868 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Children: Robert Enoch, Carroll Webb, Edith Evelyn, Clark Walker, Charles Mullin and Oscar Postal Breeding.
