Billy Dean Armstrong


Billy Dean Armstrong, 65, a resident of Shoshone, and formerly of Sonora, California, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his home in Shoshone.
Billy was born in Newman, California on January 22, 1946, the only son of Warnot Edward and Frances Sue Armstrong. After graduation from Hilmar High School in Hilmar, California, he served two years in the U.S. Army as a Spec. 4, Helicopter Gunner Trainer.
Later, he joined the Carpenters Union and worked in several locations around central California. Upon his retirement, he moved to Shoshone.
Billy is survived by his 2 sons, Billy Edward (Dorothy) and Daniel "Danny" George Armstrong; two step sons, Kurt and Carl Sutton of Sonora, California; 3 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 2 step great-great grandchildren. Billy is also survived by 4 sisters, Patricia (Robert) McConnell, of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Rita (Rae) Sanborn, of Visalia, California; Susie (James) Lowell, of San Francisco, California; and Verna (Joe) Lopes, of Shoshone, Idaho; and 4 nieces and 8 nephews.
Billy loved to team rope and go to rodeos and watching old western movies. He also was very clever at making original designed mail boxes, planters and flower hangers. He was also very imaginative in using old horseshoes in decoration art work. Another hobby was making wooden toy trucks and trains.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 7:00 pm, on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
