Daniel Jonathan Hughel, age 53, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 1st, 2012 after a long battle with Leukemia. Mr. Hughel was born on May 21st, 1958 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Donald R. and Billie B. Hughel. He graduated from Purdue University in December of 1980 with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering and was a Professional Engineer working for IT, Bechtel, Florida International University, Toho Tenax and CDM. Dan had an immense passion for football, enjoyed reading, camping and traveling, and sharing his vast knowledge of trivia. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 31 years, Wendy Hughel, sons; Jonathan Daniel and Kyle Ray Hughel, brother; D. Ray Hughel, Jr., and several generations of extended family including in-laws, nephews, a niece, cousins, aunts and uncles. The family would like to thank Dr. Wahid Hanna and Staff, UT Hospital Physicians and Staff of 12 East, MCC, Ambulatory Infusion Center and UT Hospice for the care and compassion shown Mr. Hughel and his family over the years. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Highland Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 6th, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
