R.J. TAYLOR, AGED 87, DIES SATURDAY

Funeral Will Be Held Monday At 2 O'clock; Dies of Paralysis

Robert J. Taylor, 87, the last Civil War veteran in Phillips County, passed away at his home south of Holyoke Saturday evening at 6:30 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Holyoke Christian church with burial in the Holyoke cemetery.

Several months ago, Mr. Taylor suffered a stroke of paralysis. However, he was recovering from the stroke when the second hit him last week. The second stroke paralyzed his throat and internal organs, according to physicians. He lived little more than a day after the second stroke.

He was born in Shelby County, Ohio, February 16, 1844. He came to Phillips County from Nebraska 20 years ago.

Surviving besides his widow are four daughters, Mrs. C.M. Guernsey, Haigler, NE; Mrs. Fred Moeder, Brookfield, MO; Mrs. Art Hagerman, Council Bluffs, IA; and Mrs. Harry Meade, Cozad, NE, and four sons, Robert, Holyoke; Charles, Sedgwick; John, New Cambridge, MO, and Frank of Crystal, IA.
