He was educated in rural Livingston County schools and graduated from Chillicothe Normal school and Kirksville Teachers College, Kirksville, MO. He received his Masters in Education from the University of Iowa.
He taught in several Missouri schools before becoming the Superintendent of Schools at Mooresville, MO. He was elected County Superintendent of School for Livingston County in 1935 which he held for 16 years before retiring in 1951. In all, he spent 32 years in education.
On July 18, 1947 he married Lucille Lee Batta.
He farmed the original Boucher farm of 320 acres and sold the farn in 1954.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and Chillicothe Kiwanis Club.
