Professional Baseball Player. He played first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1930 to 1939 and for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1939 to 1940. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He had a lifetime batting average of .279 and was a National League All-Star in 1936. After retiring from baseball, he purchased a liquor store. At 822 games played, he made the record of highest number of games played in 1931. The record was broken on June 12, 1957 by Stan Musial.
