ZAKRAJSEK - Callie Marie Zakrajsek passed away Friday afternoon, August 27, 2010 at her home on Long Lake under the loving care of her family and Hospice. Callie was born on March 20, 1942 in Belding, the daughter of Martin and Loretta Costello Shannon. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1960.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, the Ave Maria Guild at church and a member of the Friends of the Belding Library. She enjoyed watching all sports and in earlier years was a devoted swimming mom. She enjoyed a trip every now and then to the casino, had a true love of family and friends and happy to have come back to live in Belding.
Callie was married on July 18, 1970 in Belding to Tony Zakrajsek and he survives along with their children, Candace Zakrajsek of Kingsley, Jennifer Zakrajsek of Ann Arbor and Patrick and Andrea Zakrajsek of Ann Arbor. Callie is also survived by her granddaughter, Lacee and Josh Crosby; her great grandson, Jason Crosby; her sisters and brothers, Katie and Hugh White of Long Lake, Martin and Wanda Shannon of Whitehall, Mary Helen and Tom Haarman of Grand Rapids and Patrick and Maryanne Shannon of Sault Sainte Marie. Callie was preceded by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father Fred Brucker presiding. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary/vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Belding Library or the Belding Food Pantry.
