Lee Decker, 91, of Sedalia, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Pleasant Green, a son of Cecil and Helen Ball Decker. On Nov. 19, 1939, in Bunceton, he was married to Sara Worts, who survives of the home.

Mr. Decker was a 1932 graduate of Pilot Grove High School. During the war, he worked at the Lake City Arsenal Plant, the Atomic Bomb Development Program in New Jersey and was a shift foreman at the Nitroglycerine Plant, Sunflower Division, in Desoto, Kan.

He was a supervisor for Swift and Co. in Kansas City, for 13 years, before beginning his 20-year farming business near Pilot Grove. Along with farming, he and his wife operated a grocery, feed and gas station next to their home for seven years.

He served on the Pilot Grove Elevator Board. He also served on the board of directors of Citizen's Bank in Pilot Grove for 13 years. He was a committee person for the Cooper County ASCS office for several years.

He was a member of Pleasant Green United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for 35 years. He moved to Sedalia in 1978.

Also surviving are two daughters, Betty Knowles, and her husband, Harry, of Lee's Summit, and Sheryl Bachus, and her husband, Gordon, of Warrensburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Green United Methodist Church, with Dan Page officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrell Schupp, Joe Rogus, Scott Bachus, Dan Schmidt, Aaron Rackers and Terry Ryan. Honorary pallbearers will be William Knowles, Virgil Wolfe, Miles Wolfe, Wendell Wolfe, Bruce Wolfe, Bryon Dillner, Wyatt Phillips, Tom Knowles, Bill Jobe, John Hayes, Frank Sellers and friends at Papa Jake's. Burial will be in Pleasant Green Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or the cemetery.
