Biography by Tom Brocher: Fannie was born July 1855 [1900 U.S. Census]; died 1940; was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia, Minnesota.

She was a longtime resident of Caledonia, Minnesota, where she was regularly enumerated [1875 Minn. State Census, entry 75; 1880 U.S. Census; 1885 Minn. State Census, entry 171; 1895 Minn. State Census, p. 2, all on microfilm].

In the summer of 1870 she was named as a scholar of honorable mention for regular attendance, punctuality, good recitation, and good deportment for the Caledonia Public School spring term [Houston Co. Journal, 19 July 1870]. She missed two words in a spelling bee at Caledonia Public School one year later [Houston Co. Journal, 11 July 1871]. She was an officer of the Bon Ami Club of Caledonia, 1878. She taught school at Caledonia, Minn., from 1880 to 1895, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Church at Caledonia in 1894. She visited relatives at Decorah, Iowa in the summers of 1883 and 1891 [Caledonia Journal, 15 Aug. 1883, 12 Aug. 1891].

After the death of her parents she lived with her widowed brother-in-law, William H. HARRIES, in 1895 at Caledonia. On 31 July 1900, Fannie E. DUNBAR, single, resident of Winneshick Co., Iowa, sold W1/2 SE NE 1/4 section 27 T102 R6 of Houston Co. to N. BOUQUET (this parcel was land she purchased from her mother) [Houston Co. Records, Bk. 69, p. 82]. At this time she res. with her sister, Ida M., and Ida's family, at Decorah, Winneshiek Co., Iowa.

Fannie married late in life at Decorah, Iowa in May 1901 Alexander FERRIER, a tailor [see newspaper announcement of her wedding, below].

By 1920 they res. at 316 East Maine St., Owatonna, Minnesota [1920 U.S. Census, Minn., Steele Co., Owatonna, ED 135, S. 9, L. 86, microfilm; W.H. Harries Obituary] where they resided in Apr. 1931 [Obituary of her brother, William].

They had no issue.

-Miss Fannie Dunbar of Decorah, Iowa, and Wm. T. Ferrier of Owatonna, Minn., were married at the home of the brides' sister Mrs. A. N. Vance, of Decorah, Iowa, Tuesday evening at six o'clock. Miss Dunbar the bride, is a lady of rare qualities and one whom it is a pleasure to know. She made this city her home for some years and drew a large circle of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrier will reside at Owatonna. May their life's voyage be pleasant.
