Don Ray Roberts was born on March 1, 1941 in Levelland, Texas to Preston and Adell Roberts and passed away on January 1, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by his family he loved dearly.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Roberts, sister Betty Roberts, son Ricky Roberts, daughter Shelley Lanford, and 5 grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Jackson, Lauren, and LaShey. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Dean Roberts.
Don was a man of unrivaled generosity and compassion whose kind ways were legendary. He was a Son of God, a husband, a brother, a father, a grandfather, a son, a best friend, and an inspiration to anyone he met. Don was a constant example of Christ, always putting his family first and conveying the true meaning of love. His incredible strength, perseverance, and ability to overcome the odds were evident each day of his life. Don's bright blue eyes, vibrant personality and infectious smile could light up any room and warm the hearts of every person he met.
Life is all about choices and Don humbly made the right choices. Don always chose unconditional kindness without reserve. He chose to be constant in his love, guidance and example he set for his children and grandchildren. He chose music as his talent and passion. His beautiful voice and guitar played lullabies are sure to make Heaven richer. Don happily chose to serve; spending his days in constant service of others and as a strong Christian man. He chose eternal love for his wife who was his best friend, soul mate, and always by his side.
Don was humble, loving, and charitable, and his children watched and learned. They now know where to turn for peace because they watched their father find it in Christ. We now choose to honor his legacy by being happy, ever-serving, and faithful.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM in George Price Funeral Chapel in his beloved hometown of Levelland, Texas with Bob Odell officiating. Burial will follow in City of Levelland Cemetery. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland.
