Lucille Genevieve (Hansen) Christensen died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, Minnesota. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, 1300 Beltrami Avenue NW, Bemidji, with The Reverend Arlo Feiock officiating. Family will be present to greet friends prior to the funeral service. Arrangements were entrusted with the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bemidji, Minn.

Honorary pallbearers are Lucille's grandchildren: Mark Stokes, Paul Stokes, Laura Hoogland, Michelle Fulp, Christopher Mittelholtz, Robert Bryant Jr. and Patrick Bryant.

Lucille was born October 12, 1923, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Ralph A. and Lillian (Carlson) Hansen. She moved to Cass Lake, Minnesota with her family in 1938.

She married Paige C. Christensen on December 20, 1941. Together they had two daughters and enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Throughout their marriage, they lived in several communities where Paige taught school, including Red Lake, MN, Lakota, ND, Sharon, ND, Gardner, ND, and Pine River, MN, before returning to Cass Lake in 1967. Lucille was employed by the U.S. Forest Service at the Supervisor's Office in Cass Lake for 22 years as a Personnel Assistant. Paige & Lou loved and enjoyed their home on Midge Lake through retirement. Her last three years of life were spent at Touch of Home Customized Living, where she was known for her love of singing and her positive outlook.

Lucille was very warm and caring, and she affirmed those with whom she interacted. She enjoyed her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her leisure time was spent doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, painting, playing bridge, and enjoying her home on the lake. She was active in taking care of her house and yard until well into her eighties. She was an active member in the church throughout her lifetime, most recently at Bethany Free Lutheran.

Lucille is survived by her daughters, Karen Lee Stokes and LuAnne Christensen, Cass Lake, Minn, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Christensen, Bemidji and Dorothy Hansen, Apple Valley, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her parents-in-law Helen and Norman W. Christensen, Cass Lake, sisters Bernice (Frank) Raczynski, Doris (Vern) Wahlberg, brothers Ralph E. (Donna) Hansen, Joel Hansen, brother-in-law Norman F. Christensen and five nephews.
