Richard Canaday was born in Sullivan county, Ind., in 1840 and died in Phillips county, Colo., on Sunday Nov. 10, 1907.

While yet a young man he went to Illinois and spent most of his life in that state. He was married in that state and to them were born 5 children, only one of whom, his son Allen, of this county survives him.

His wife died while he resided in Illinois. In March 1906, he came to Phillips county, where his son, Allen, has a homestead in the hope that the change of climate would prove beneficial to his health. He was a man who made friends and was always highly respected wherever he made his home.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday Nov. 12, and were conducted by Rev. Jenkins of Holyoke, and the body was laid away in the Holyoke cemetery.
