Francis M. Blakesley was born on April 17, 1846, in Indiana. With his parents he removed to Appanoose county, Iowa, in 1847, where he grew to manhood.

On Nov. 19, 1867, he was united in marriage with Miss Eliza E. Hanes and took up his residence in Cedar county, Mo., after a few years removing to Wayne county, Iowa, where he resided till he came to Colorado in 1906 which move he made in the hope that the climate would prove beneficial to his health. To this couple were born seven boys and two girls of whom four sons and one daughter remain to mourn with their bereaved mother, the death of husband and father.

He had for several years been in poor health but was able to be around town till a short time ago when he was confined to his room. His devoted wife and son did all that loving hands could do but soon death released him from his pain. He departed this life on Friday Morning Jan. 15, 1915.

A good citizen, kind neighbor and loving husband and father has gone. The funeral was conducted from the home on Saturday Jan. 16, 1915, Rev. W. A. Fortner preaching the sermon and the body was laid in the Holyoke cemetery.
