Serbian Statesman. The founder of the Serbian Democratic Party, he started his political career as an MP of the Radical Party. He was elected mayor of Belgrade in 1909. In 1911, the municipality founded the Technical Department for Construction Activities, which streamlined construction in Belgrade. He was Minister of Education several times. The role of this Ministry, relocated to the island of Corfu, Greece during World War I, was to accommodate and educate refugee Serbian children. Owing to Davidovic efforts, the Serbian Printing House continued to publish Serbian newspapers on Corfu. As a longstanding president of the Democratic Party, he called supporters to enter democracy and not party ranks, advising them never to put party interests above the welfare of the people and the state.
