Service Held for Velva Crum, 70
The funeral service for Velva Mae Crum, 70, of Griswold, was held Friday, December 4, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. at the Massena Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Mrs. Crum passed away Monday, November 30 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Officiating at the service were the Rev. Sally A. Robinson and Rev. Larry Mitchell. Music was provided by Mrs. Pearle Spieker, organist, and Mrs. Barbara Wollenhaupt, soloist. Pallbearers were Cleve and Donald Powell, Bill Brad, and Randy McElfish, and Rex Erickson. Mary Erickson and Cheryl Christensen were in charge of flowers. Interment was in the Massena Center Cemetery. Steen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Velva Mae Crum, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth Olson McElfish, was born November 20, 1922 in Massena.
Velva grew up in Massena and graduated from Massena High School.
Velva was married to Lester Hansen. To this union was born a son, Leroy.
On March 10, 1951 Velva was united in marriage to Malcom Crum in Papillion, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha where he was employed by the Fairbanks Morse Company. Later, they farmed near Massena before retiring to Griswold.
When Velva was in good health she enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Malcom and two brothers: Russell and Dennis.
She is survived by her sons: Leroy of Massena; Larry and wife Judy of Griswold and Michael of Saudi Arabia; one sister, Orien Fitzwilliam of Massena; two brothers: Morris McElfish and wife Dorothy and Delmer McElfish, all of Massena; a number of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
