The youngest child of Vivian Leigh (Cox) and Jedediah Gooing, Donna was born on July 1, 1932, in Parma, Idaho, and raised on a 22-acre farm. She learned at an early age the value of hard work as she worked in the garden. Every year, she helped her mother can all the fruits and vegetables. Later in Klamath Falls, she taught her own children how to work in the fields.
She was happy, vibrant, and always full of fun. Donna enjoyed dancing, making homemade stilts as a child, and later tossing 78 rpm records like Frisbees. She also loved to sing and knew the words to almost every song ever made.
Following graduation from high school, she married Lester Rookstool on June 8, 1950, in the LDS. Church in Parma. They had two sons and two daughters and eventually settled in Klamath Falls to raise their family.

Donna began selling real estate in 1972. In 1979, she went into partnership and opened Rookstool-Hansen Realty. Later, she and Lester divorced. She married Walt Moden on Sept. 1, 1981, and they were sealed in the Seattle Washington Temple on Sept. 17, 1982. In 1991, Walt joined his wife and the business became Rookstool-Moden Realty.

An avid gardener, Donna enjoyed a 40-acre farm on Lombardy, and another 40 acres on Spring Lake Road. Every year, she raised a large vegetable garden and tended to colorful flowers and a vast rose garden. Just as her mother had taught her, Donna canned hundreds of quarts of green beans and other vegetables to share with her family and friends. She also kept the Klamath Basin Senior Center and the Klamath Falls Gospel Mission in fresh fruits and vegetables. She fed her guests well, always encouraging them to have something to eat. She loved to cook and everything she prepared was wonderful.
Donna served as president of the Klamath Board of Realtors and the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) board. She set up the computer system for the MLS to bring Klamath Falls into the 21st century.

Her life was centered on her church and family. She held numerous callings, including that of being a temple worker for 11 years. She taught the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School Class for 22 years.

Donna had a great love for her family. She was a wonderful wife to Walter and loved him dearly. They always did things together as a very happy couple. In addition, Donna had an enormous affection for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to have everyone around as much as possible. Donna always had the highest regard for the people she worked with and considered them as part of her family, too.
She will be missed by her husband of 28 years; sons Jack Rookstool and Chris Rookstool; daughters and son-in-law Jeanne Rookstool and Lezlie and Terry Bricco; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law Beverly and Willis Hansen and Billie Hunt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brothers Roy, Jack, Glenn, and James Gooing and a sister Nadine Hale.

In 1935 Donna lived with her family in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The 1940 U.S. Census shows Donna with her family in Canyon, Idaho.
