Mitchell L. Spencer, 81, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 24, 2011.

Mitchell was born in Elkhart, Texas, to Jack and Ruby (Fallan) Spencer on September 28, 1930. He grew up in Elkhart and attended school there. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954. On March 6, 1970 he married Linda Kent and they made their home originally in Nampa, Idaho before moving to Ennis in 2010.

He was the owner and operator of Spencer's Bait Shop for several years he also worked for the school system in the maintenance department. He enjoyed collecting guns and loved to cook.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Spencer of Ennis; two sons: Mitchell Spencer, Jr. of Ennis and Robbie Lee Spencer currently serving in Germany; two daughters: Michele Jodine of College Place, WA and Tracy Daniels of Waxahachie along with four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. in the DFW National Cemetery with Rev. Gary Miller officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
