OBIT:

Mrs. Mary F. Reed, 84, widow of J. Frank Reed, died at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ardell Burney, at Hope. She had been failing for some time and became bedfast a week ago.

The body was taken to the Norman Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with burial at Hope Moravian Cemetery. The casket will remain at the funeral home until the services.

Born in Illinois, the daughter of Christian and Lavina Beckel, Mrs. Reed came to the Hope community when she was a small child and spent the rest of her life there. Her husband died six years ago and the last four years, she had made her home with Mrs. Burney.

She was the last of a family of five children and was active in the work of Hope Methodist Church, of which she was a member until her health became bad.

Besides the daughter with whom she lived, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Walter Beckler of Pueblo, Colorado; two sons, Hubert C. Reed of Baltimore, Maryland, who arrive at Hope Wednesday morning, and Harold J. Reed of Bloomington, and five grandchildren.
