LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. — Charles L. Shepherd, 67, a resident of LaFollette and formerly of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at press time.




Charles Leon (Moondoggie & Chalk) Shepherd, 67, a resident of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at his home while surrounded by family.

Charles was born in Campbell County October 25, 1944 living his life between Morgan and Campbell counties.

He was a retired truck driver who worked for 46 years. While driving his truck he gave his life to the Lord in September 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Virgie Longmire Shepherd, by a daughter, Norma Jean Shepherd, by a son, Lynn May, a brother, Tommy Lee, and by sisters; Marie Shepherd, Geadine Shepherd, Corine Wilson, Betty Bailey and Bobbie York.

Charlies is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Jones Shepherd, by three daughters; Kim Durham and husband, John of LaFollette, Tammie Brys and husband, Eddie of Stephens, Sonja Kitts and husband, Brian of LaFollette, by seven grandchildren; Beth, Charles, Josh, Nicole, Tamara, Tiffany and Damien, by great-grandchildren; Hailey, Tre, Carson, Rh'anna, Destiney, Hayden and Natalie, by a brother, Mallard Shepherd of Wartburg, by sisters; Shirley Thomas and Ida Aytes of Wartburg and Margie Johnson of LaFollette.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2012, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ralph Wilson and Todd Cox officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Stephens Cemetery.
