Born in Cranbury, she lived in Whiting for the past nine years, and was formerly of Browns Mills.
Dorothy was employed as the mailroom supervisor at Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills and retired after 25 years of service. She also worked at Bowen's Pharmacy in Browns Mills for several years.
Dorothy was a very active member of the Browns Mills United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by six siblings, Charlie Grover, Joe Grover, Jerry Perrine, John 'Junior' Grover Jr., Buster Perrine and Jean Powell.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, John L. Anderson Sr.; her children, Dorothy Jean 'DJ' Murphy and her husband, Patrick, of Cookstown, John L. Anderson Jr. of Cape May County, Joseph L. Anderson and his wife, Kathleen, of Browns Mills, William J. Anderson of Browns Mills, and Portia L. Statuto and her husband, John, of Florence; three sisters, Ella Nerod of Lakeland, Fla., Ann Ward of Virginia, and Eva Hurst of New York; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at noon Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Browns Mills United Methodist Church, 2 Pemberton-Browns Mills Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015, with Pastor Dick Esher officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
