Jacqueline "Jackie" Sanders, 81, of Vermilion passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in Amherst Hospital. She was born on August 31, 1926 in Bellevue the daughter of the late James and Leona (Buchman) Lepley.

She married Gene Sanders on May 4, 1946 in Bellevue. Jacqueline was a 1943 graduate of Bellevue High School and throughout her life was employed as a bookkeeper and seamstress. She was a deeply involved member of St. Mary's Church, Vermilion where she sang in the choir and used her talent as a seamstress to make vestments and altar items. Jackie taught many people to sew and created many wedding dresses for family members. She will long be remembered for her quick smile, generosity and great kindness. Jackie and Gene traveled extensively visiting many parts of the world, she enjoyed creating paintings of the breath taking sights they took in.

Along with her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her sons, Eugene (Candy) Sanders of Vermilion; Steve (Karen) Sanders of Sebastian, FL; daughter Judi Wilkes of Sebastian, FL; grandchildren, Justin, Scott, Stacy and Michael, great grandchildren, Cassidy and Charlie; 2 brothers, Sylvester "Joe" Lepley of Bellevue; Dr. Edward (Sharon) Lepley of Stanwood, MI; Sisters, Sue (Bob) Green,Gail (Jim) Miller, both of Bellevue and Sandra Dillon of Westerville. She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Mary Lee Martin; Sisters, Marilyn Fox, and Catherine "Kitty" Flicker; and brothers, John and James Lepley.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermillion, with the rosary recited at 3:30 pm. A funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. Jim Holmer will be held on Monday at St. Mary's Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion at 10 a.m. A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery. Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, is in care of arrangements.
