Bertha Lydia Warthorst Woodworth, daughter of Frank William Warthorst and Maryetta Ella Hershey, moved from Massillon, Ohio to Bakersfield, California by 1900. Attended Stanford University and then taught school in Sonoma, California. Married Reuben McDonald Woodworth in San Francisco, California September 22, 1931. Bertha died after only 6 years of marriage to Reuben. (After Bertha died Uncle Reuben married her best friend, Alice.)
Her ashes are set within a large boulder to the south of the Hope family plot. A bronze tablet on the rock is inscribed "Bertha L. W. Woodworth 1888-1937". The boulder is about 3 1/2 ft high. (The Hope family plot is the plot belonging to Uncle Reuben's mother)
