The community was shocked Thursday afternoon by the tragic death by burning of Mrs. Geo. Huckinson. She was pouring coal oil out of a can containing about a half gallon of oil on to a smouldering fire. The oil in the can caught fire and exploded, throwing the burning oil over her and the room. A daughter caught her and threw her on the bed and smothered the flames but not before she was badly burned. Doctors were summoned and did all they could but the end soon came. The kitchen caught fire but was soon put out by a little son. The funeral services were held at Lowgap church and burial in the cemetery there. She was the daughter of Henry Anderson. Her mother and six sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. There are eleven brothers and sisters surviving. Rev. Froman, pastor of the Mt. Olive church, conducted the services.
