Valda Noel Cordell, 92, of DeKalb died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in a local nursing home. Mr. Cordell was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Oak Grove, Texas. He was a retired small business administrator, real estate broker and income tax preparer, a member of DeKalb Masonic Lodge 9, Toastmasters Club and DeKalb Church of Christ and a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Cleo Cordell of DeKalb; two daughters, Wanda Nicholas of Ore City, Texas, and Jeniece Grantham of Ponder, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Ferguson and Alva Mae Chrane of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Cordell of DeKalb and Anna Lou Rusk of Gorman, Texas; three granddaughters, Denise Swint of DeKalb, Travonda Satterwhite of Longview, Texas, and Sheila Goodgame of Tyler, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Blakeney officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
