Donald Munro Henderson, 85, of
Urbana died Saturday, October 21,
2006 at Meadowbrook Healthcare
Center, Urbana, Illinois. Mr. Henderson
was born on November 8, 1920 in Boston,
Massachusetts, the son of William D.
Henderson and Margaret T. Fessenden.
He married Margaret Rose Foster on June 27,
1948 in Concord, Massachusetts, she passed
away Monday, December 28, 2009 in Urbana,
Illinois. Surviving are four sons; Donald Munro
Henderson, Jr. of Venice, California, Robert
Henderson of Marina del Ray, California, Peter
Henderson of Urbana, Illinois and Alec
Henderson of Lander, Wyoming, a daughter
Judy Henderson, one brother William D.
Henderson Jr. of Reedville, Virginia and
a sister Margaret H. York of Walnut Creek,
California, five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Henderson received his A.B. from
Brown University and his A.M. and PhD
from Harvard University. He was a
Professor Emeritus of Geology at the
University of Illinois. Mr. Henderson was
a Fellow of Mineralogical Society of
America, Geological Society of America,
American Geophysical union, A Fellow of
the American Association for the
Advancement of Science and a Guggenheim
Fellow from 1958-1959. Private memorial
services were held by The Renner-Wikoff
Chapel and Crematory.
