Sgt.Hilkiah P. Nichols
Served with Co. M 1st. Vermont Vol. Cav. during the Civil War of 1861-65. He served all 4 years with out a scrach, but his main claim to faim is his poor wife Larana mourned herself to death in 1863 worrying about him as he served in the army. He himself would died in 1900 at age 89 some 37 years after she worried herself to death.
