Mrs. Sarah A. Plummer, daughter of Larkin and Hannah Ramsey, was born in Belleview precinct, Calhoun County, Illinois, July 14, 1852, and died January 10, 1923. She was first united in marriage with Sylvester Haynes, to which union one child, Cyrus M. Haynes, was born. Later, she was married to William H. Plummer, to which union, 10 children were born, one son, two daughters and the husband preceding her in death.
Mrs. Plummer united with the Methodist church at Gilead about 30 years ago, to which church she remained faithful to the end. She leaves to mourn her death one brother, Charles Ramsey; Cyrus M. Haynes, Clifford Plummer, Charles H. Plummer, Clara Wilkinson, Lulu Dixon, of Calhoun County; O. C. Plummer, of Moline Ill., Edith Fowler of Alton, William Plummer of near Grafton, children; and Mrs. Matt Bruns, a stepdaughter, and 25 grandchildren.
Mrs. Plummer died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lulu Dixon of near Batchtown, where she had been making her home this winter, and her body was laid to rest Thursday afternoon, January 11, 1923, in the family lot at Gilead, after funeral services conducted by Rev. E. P. Gilchrist, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Hardin.
