John's last will, which he executed as Minister of the Gospel at the Congregational Church of Conway on 21 Sept 1822, is available on ancestry.com Franklin County probate records Case Number 1512 Probate Records, Vol 11-14, 1824-1827. His home, farm, 70 acres with dwelling house with out buildings. except for parts belonging to the heirs of his deceased son John, is to be divided into three equal parts and 1/3 was to be for the heirs of his deceased son John and the other 2/3 was for his sons Joseph and Charles Lee provided that these heirs pay to son Samuel Moody Emerson, pastor at Manchester, a fifth part of the value of the whole estate. To his daughter Sabra, the wife of Rev. Joseph Field, and daughter Lois Cobb, the wife of Simeon Strong Esq., and daughter Rebecca the wife of Mr. Scott Clark, he gave 2 good cows or their value in money to be equally divided between them also all household furniture, beds, and bedding, and all other movables...To his daughter-in-law Persis wife of his deceased son John, one good cow or its value in money and weaving apparel. To his grandchildren, children of Persis and John, William , Charles and Mary, three dollars to purchase them a Bible which Rev. John hopes they will read every day and for Mary five dollars to purchase a mourning gown. He then names several individuals to receive his papers and books. His eldest sons living Joseph Emerson Physician and Charles Emerson as executors. He ends his will with prayers and a personal note on his hopes for his children and grandchildren and how they should live their life.

In memory of the Rev John Emerson who was born at Malden Nov 20 1745 was called to the work of the ministry in Conway July 20 1769 having preached the gospel 57 years He died June 26 1826 in the 81 year of his age
