Donald Frank Jeffery, 80, of Tekonsha, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
Don was born on October 10, 1931 in Marshall to Alford and Alberta (Aymer) Jeffery. He went to Marshall High School and graduated Class of 1950. After graduating Don joined the Navy in 1951-1955. He was on the aircraft carrier, USS Oriskany for the entire 4 years during the Korean War! Once he returned home Don worked at Eaton's and attended Michigan State University for 2 years before working at Kellogg's. He worked at Kellogg's for 34 years as a Maintenance Supervisor and Electrician before retiring in 1990.
Don married Cynthia Groholske on October 10, 1959 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater. They enjoyed a fulfilling 52 years together!
Don was a member of the 25 Year Club. He enjoyed planes, motorcycles and corvettes. Don took flying lessons and loved to work in his yard and around his home. Cynthia said that he was a man who could fix anything! He was an animal lover to cats and dogs, especially his Yorkie, Buddy.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Jeffery; brother, Stanley (Sally) Jeffery of Olivet; sister, Joyce (Robert) Grable of Marshall; sister in-law, Marcedes (Ronald) Jonhson of Coldwater; brother in-law, Alwyn (Judy) Groholske of Tekonsha and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Jeffery; and his father and mother in-law, Frank and Margaret Groholske.
Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 723 US 27, Marshall, on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 from 2-8PM with the family here to receive friends from 2-4PM & 6-8PM. There will be a rosary held at 6:30PM. Services to celebrate the life of Don will be held at the St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Steven Naas officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall after interment. Memorials go to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or to St. Mary Catholic Church. www.kempffuneralhome.com
