Related to a land dispute, a deposition made by Richard Hiscock on Feb 8, 1809 states that Richard Hiscock, of Bristol in the County of Lincoln, aged upwards of 81 years, came to Bristol with his father when he was about five years old. He referred to his father, the pioneer who first settled in the area. Richard stated that he had a brother John, and that John had two sons, Samuel and William. He tells of a lot that is still occupied and possessed by Samuel Hiscock and William Hiscock, sons of his deceased brother John, who moved away with his father in 1743 but returned in the fall of the same year and possessed and occupied the lot since that time.
