Consort Queen of Prussia. She was the second child of George of Hanover and sister of the future King of England, George II. After a rather turbulent childhood, lived under the tutelage of her paternal grandmother, she married (1706) her cousin Frederick William, Crown Prince and future King of Prussia (1713). Sophie Dorothea, considered a woman of considerable culture and protector of the arts, had fourteen children, including Frederick II the Great who during his reign (1740-1786), reserved to the mother the title of Queen Mother.
