John Quincy Post, 111, of New Gretna, known affectionately to the community as "Johnny Q," died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Post was a carpenter at DuPont Corp. in Wilmington, Del.
During the Great Depression, he was employed in the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped the local unit deepen Lake Absegami in the Bass River Forest.
Mr. Post was a member and past minister at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in New Gretna. He served as a lay preacher at the church in 1915.
He was a graduate of the Cleveland School of the Bible.
Born in Ovid, N.Y., when Chester A. Arthur was president, Mr. Post lived in Camden, New Gretna and Pleasantville before moving back to New Gretna more than 20 years ago.
He is survived by a daughter, Naomi P. Maurer, with whom he lived; a son, James C. of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 3 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Main Street, New Gretna, where friends may call one hour before services.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, New Gretna.
