Cyril Joseph Agard, also known as "Snapper", was born May 20, 1978 in Ft. Yates, North Dakota to Joseph and Theresa (White Bull) Agard.
Snapper was a descendant of Chief Walking Eagle and carried the name of "Wambli Oma ni" (Walking Eagle).
He left us for the spirit world December 15, 2011, on the day Standing Rock Sioux Tribe commemorates Honoring the Chiefs Day.
Snapper was raised in Bullhead, Kenel and Ft. Yates. He attended school at the Standing Rock Elementary and then went on to Standing Rock High School where he enjoyed playing basketball, football and softball.
He made many friends with whom he enjoyed spending time with. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed listening to music.
Snapper was kind-hearted, friendly and was always joking and making people laugh. He was very loved by his "OG" (Old Gramma) Marie Brave Crow who passed away July 4, 2011.
OG saw her favorite grandson suffering, so she came for Snapper on December 15, 2011 at 2:56 PM at MedCenter One in Bismarck, ND. They can now enjoy spending time together.
Snapper is survived by his parents, Joe Agard of McLaughlin, SD and Theresa White Bull of Ft. Yates; brothers, Joseph "Cubby" Agard, Philo Agard, Joseph J.J. Ramsey and Shawn Gates all of Ft. Yates; grandmothers, Maxine White Bull of Kenel, Julianne End of Horn of Ft. Yates, Clarice Miner of Eagle Butte and Ramona Hopkins of Hillsboro, OR; grandfather, Martin "Mayo" Hat of San Mateo, CA; Aunts, Geraldine Agard, Etta Brave Crow, Gale Brave Crow and Mabel Medicine Crow all of McLaughlin, SD; Uncles, Dale Brave Crow of McLaughlin, SD, Richard Fiddler (Cynthia) of Ft. Yates and James Parisian of Mobridge, SD; niece, Brianna Agard and nephew, Philo Agard, Jr. both of Ft. Yates along with numerous other extended family & friends.

Snapper was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Cyril Agard, Pat White Bull and Steven Brave Crow; grandmothers, Margaret Sleeps and Marie Brave Crow; Uncle Gerald "Soup" Agard; Aunt Pauline Brave Crow; nieces, Kyrianna and Misty Agard and cousins, Corey Jack Taken Alive, Alfred and Duane Agard.
Funeral services for Cyril "Snapper" Agard, 33, of Kenel and Bullhead, SD, were held Friday, Dec. 23 at 10:30am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Ft. Yates with Father Basil Atwell, OSB, officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stout Family Funeral Home, Mobridge. A rosary service was held Thursday at 7:00 PM at the church. Casketbearers were Shawn Gates, Ethan Agard, Jade Agard, John Agard, Chad Agard, Peton White Bull, Jory White Bull, Marv Luger, Austin Agard and Caleb Eagle. Music was provided by Antoine & Verdelia American Horse, Dana Yellowfat and Lakota Thunder Drum Group.
