Mr. Swaney was born in Lincolnville, Ind. but had lived in Marion most of his life. He owned and operated the Swaney market for 37 years and retired in 1961. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, Samaritan Lodge No. 105, and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Stover, Leesburg, IN, Mrs. Russell (Mary Ellen) Miller, Marshall, IN, and Mrs. Richard (Lorean) Roberts, Toledo, OH; a brother, James E. Swaney, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. William (Aleta) Griffin, Marion; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
