Henry Bolling, 67, an executive of the Bolling Restaurant chain for 32 years, served as president of the National Restaurant Association from 1974 to 1975 and was president for two terms of the Chicago and Illinois Restaurant Association, now known as the Illinois Restaurant Association
A resident of Glenview, he died Saturday in a nursing home in Northbrook.
''He helped perpetuate the family tradition of fine dining,'' said his brother, Jack. ''Our father founded the firm and his thrust was to continue what his father had started.''
His father, Henry, began the chain with a restaurant that opened in 1928 in the Pittsfield Building, 55 E. Washington St.
Mr. Bolling was secretary and general manager of Bolling's Restaurants Inc. The firm has three restaurants in the Board of Trade Building, including The Sign of Trader; one, John Kremer Excelsior, in the Insurance Exchange Building; and the Excelsior Tavern in the Amoco Building.
A native of Milwaukee, he graduated from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. During World War II, he served as a Navy lieutenant aboard on a destroyer in the Pacific.
He also served four terms as treasurer of the Chicago and Illinois Restaurant Association.
He also captained the curling team of the North Shore Club, competing with teams from throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Services for Mr. Bolling will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Glenview Community Church, Elm Street and Glenview Road, in the suburb
