King of Saxony from 1827 to 1836. Son of Elector Friedrich Christian. He was 72 years old when he became King after his brothers King Friedrich August I. death. He was more interested in composing than reigning his country. When he died he left 50 volumes with his own compositions. His 'Salve Regina' was played during funerals of the Wettin family.
