93-year-old McLeansboro resident, Dexter T. Nations, died at 5:57 p.m. Tuesday, December 27 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was a retired ward supervisor at the former Manteno State Hospital. He also worked as a produce truck driver for the former Sam Atkinson Store in McLeansboro. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, earning 3 Bronze Battle Stars. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #106,the Hamilton Bottle Club, and the Hopewell Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife Sarrah B. Nations; one daughter, Norma R. Moore of Crown Point, IN; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Davis of Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Freda Nations of Mt. Vernon, IL.

Funeral services for Dexter T. Nations will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31 at Hopewell Baptist Church near McLeansboro. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery near Enfield, with graveside military rites by the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 30 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, and from 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31 until the time of service at the church.
