Parents: George Edwin Gibson and Mary Eliza Randall.

J. Frank Gibson settled in Tulare, Calif., but later moved to Visalia, the county seat, where he had large financial interests and was prominent in the business affairs of the city. He was one of the principal leaders of his party in his section of the state and was a delegate from Calif. to the Republican National Convention in Chicago in 1916. He was one of the most successful businessmen who moved away from Norway.

J. Frank Gibson departed Maine in 1876 for the West. He returned to Maine in 1883 and married Charlotte Hobbs, a former schoolmate and they then returned to California.

Upon first coming to California. they settled in Gilroy, later in Hollister, and then in Modesto, dairying and fruit growing.

They had the following children:

◦Ora Gibson, b. 6 Sep 1885, d. 12 Jan 1969
◦George Edwin Gibson Jr., b. 31 Oct 1886, d. 1939
◦Charles Albert Gibson, b. 27 Jun 1889, d. 1 Apr 1966
◦John Frank Gibson II, b. 10 Oct 1891, d. 4 Oct 1980


They moved to Tulare in 1884. John Frank Gibson was elected to 2 terms as County Assesor, moving to Visalia during this time, where he stayed until death. He served for a period of time on the Visalia City Council. He was V.P. of National Bank of Visalia circa 1910.

Charlotte died in 1893. He then married Margaret Elizabeth George 15 January 1898 in Tulare Co., Calif.
