Donald was born on 9 August 1924 at Two Rivers, Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin; died unmarried on 4 June 1993 at Manitowoc, Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin; was buried there at Evergreen Cemetery [Manitowoc Co. Vital Records, Births, vol. 41, p. 486; Soc. Sec. Recs., issued Wisc., CD-Rom].

Donald was born and raised at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and apart from his military service, was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc County. Before World War II he worked at Hamilton Mfg. Co. at Two Rivers.

He served as a Private First Class in the U. S. Army during World War II, entering service in August 1943 from Two Rivers and was discharged on 1 January 1946 [Manitowoc Herald Times, 30 July 1943]. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on 8 April 1947 and was released on 3 Feb. 1948.

After the war, Donald's life was troubled and he was arrested for various minor violations of the law. He pleaded guilty to two separate charges of drunk and disorderly conduct in Two Rivers in January 1947 and in February 1948 [Manitowoc Herald Times, 31 Jan. 1947; 21 Feb. 1948]. He pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving in Two Rivers that resulted in a head-on crash in December 1951 [Manitowoc Herald Times, 26 Dec. 1951]. In 1968 he was evicted from his apartment. In 1970, he was remanded to the county jail for 15 days after failing to pay $15 and costs for a vagrancy conviction [Manitowoc Herald Times, 30 Oct. 1970].

He had ownership of the LAHEY family bible.
